Where is the Seminar?

Palette & Chisel, in Chicago, has graciously agreed to be our home-base for the seminar this year. As this is an Urban Sketching seminar, workshops will be held in parks, plazas and on sidewalks nearby.

How much does it cost?

For 2023, our seminar general admission ticket is $125. One ticket includes access to up to four workshops (two on Saturday and two on Sunday).

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate in the Seminar?

Participants must be at least 18 years old at the time of the event.  Young sketchers can participate if accompanied by a responsible adult.  Contact us at urbansketcherschicago@gmail.com to discuss options for those younger than 18.

Can you accommodate people with mobility issues?

The USk Chicago Sketch Seminar is, by nature, a multi-location event with significant distances between key points. Walking is a part of the process, and some workshops may be located as far away as 15 minutes walk time from the venue.
Palette & Chisel has one flight of stairs from street level to the first floor, and there is no elevator. Unfortunately, as a not-for-profit organization, it has not been feasible for the P&C to make any kind of improvements to their building, including access. Each person will need to assess whether his/her individual situation and health issues would allow him/her to participate.

How do I register?

Seminar registration opens on Saturday, April 1 at 9:00 a.m. Central Time. Registration will be through Eventbrite. More information will be shared in the next couple weeks.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds may be requested up to 30 days after purchase or June 1st, whichever is sooner. USk Chicago reserves the right to apply a $10 (USD) cancellation fee for all refunds. No refunds will be offered after June 1st, 2023, due to the need to finalize events, supplies, and programming.

What is the Participant Waiver?

By attending this event, I acknowledge that the nature of the Seminar could possibly expose me to hazards or risks that could result in my illness, personal injury or death and I understand and appreciate the nature of such hazards and risks. I hereby accept all risk to my health and of my injury or death that may result from such participation, including transportation and all other adjunct activities, and I hereby release Urban Sketchers, Urban Sketchers Chicago, its governing board, officers, employees and representatives from any liability to me, my personal representatives, estate, heirs, next of kin, and assigns for any and all claims and causes of action for loss of or damage to my property and for any and all illness or injury to my person, including my death, that may result from or occur during my participation in the Seminar, whether caused by any type of negligence of Urban Sketchers, Urban Sketchers Chicago, its governing board, officers, employees, or representatives, or otherwise. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Urban Sketchers, Urban Sketchers Chicago and its governing board, officers, employees, and representatives from liability for the injury or death of any person(s) and damage to property that may result from my negligent or intentional act or omission while participating in the Seminar.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS AGREEMENT AND UNDERSTAND IT TO BE A RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION FOR MY INJURY OR DEATH OR DAMAGE TO MY PROPERTY THAT OCCURS WHILE PARTICIPATING IN THE ABOVE DESCRIBED ACTIVITY AND THAT IT OBLIGATES ME TO INDEMNIFY THE PARTIES NAMED FOR ANY LIABILITY FOR INJURY OR DEATH OF ANY PERSON AND DAMAGE TO PROPERTY CAUSED BY MY NEGLIGENT OR INTENTIONAL ACT OR OMISSION.

Furthermore, by registering for the 2023 Chicago Sketch Seminar, I grant permission for photography, video, and audio recording to be made of me/my likeness and to be used without compensation or use-specific approval by Urban Sketchers Chicago and/or Urban Sketchers, and its representatives, indefinitely.

If the Seminar registrant is under the age of 18, I certify that I, as the registrant’s parent/legal guardian, have obtained permission from the USk Chicago organizers to register a minor and I accept all legal obligations.
