Sketch Correspondent

We are looking for a Chicago Urban Sketcher to be a Sketch Correspondent for our annual Seminar. The Correspondent will work with the USk Chicago admin, sponsor and correspondent team during the event on July 11,12,13, 2025 and provide reportage of daily workshops and activities as directed. They will report direct to the Correspondent team lead, Wes Douglas.

  1. Sketch Correspondent to tell stories using pictures, sketches, markings for attendees at the Seminar and those who were unable to make it. To give a sense of what the Sketch Seminar experience is like, to be the eyes and ears for USK members during the event.
  2. An extensive amount of daily walking, capturing and storytelling – oftentimes simultaneously.
  3. An honorable role which is selected by the Urban Sketchers Chicago Correspondent Team and one that comes with great responsibility and pride.

Correspondent job description:

  • Sketch the Seminar activities for all 3 days – July 11,12,13, 2025. The correspondent will not be able to attend workshops as they will need to move from one workshop/activity to the next.
  • Be the eyes and ears of the seminar experience for those who
    could not make it
  • Post reportage sketches, and short write-ups in real time on the USk Chicago Facebook, and Instagram pages.
  • This is a volunteer role, and while you are not taking workshops, it does give you access into all the workshops and activities for purposes of documentation.
  • Some of the sketches and posts should showcase and hashtag our wonderful sponsors who have generously filled our goodie bags.

Qualifications:

  • Sketchers: Ability and interest in sketching people quickly.
  • Sketchers: A reasonable ability to write in English to create descriptions of the activity.
  • Technical knowledge and equipment to publish sketches and write-ups online in real-time (mostly the USk Chicago Facebook and Instagram accounts, Bluesky as well.)
  • Great familiarity with the Sketch Seminar location – Gold Coast neighborhood.
