Richard Kasemsarn
Richard Kasemsarn is a daily sketcher and a practicing licensed architect and educator. He has also been an instructor at the School of the Art Institute since 2009 where he has taught in the Continuing Studies and Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Design Objects department. The classes he has taught have ranged from technical architectural classes, studios, design seminars, and interior design. Being an instructor there has also given him the opportunity to study painting at the institute. His areas of studies have been concentrated in representational figurative painting with oil.
Richard received a graduate degree in architecture from Yale University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan where he studied architecture and fine arts.
His visual work builds on architectural drawing techniques and figurative studies. He seeks to create representational, narrative perspectives set within urban landscapes through a variety of media and scale. He maintains a studio at the Cornelia Fine Arts Building where he develops his art and runs his architectural practice and has also had the opportunity to host two urban sketching pop-up shows.
