Kar-Keat Chong
Kar-Keat Chong is a Minneapolis-based architect and watercolorist. Trained under local artists in his hometown of Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia when he was fourteen, Kar-Keat resumed his passion for watercolor painting and sketching in 2017. His work has been accepted into national and international juried exhibitions such as Audubon Artists of America and Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
Besides running his own art and architecture studio, Kar-Keat is an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota’s College of Design – School of Architecture, teaching a course in watercolor. He has also conducted sketching workshops at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and most recently at Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona, Minnesota. As a former chapter administrator of the Urban Sketchers Twin Cities, Kar-Keat has been involved with Urban Sketchers activities since 2017. He has helped to plan and lead sketchwalks in Minneapolis and in Winona, Minnesota. Kar-Keat has attended international symposiums in Porto, Amsterdam and most recently Sketch Racine and Asialink Sketch Walk in his hometown of Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.
