Skyscraper Sketching Simplified

Marek is an architect in love with ink and monochrome, and with limited watercolor palettes. He started his own version of Urban Sketching while studying Architecture at Warsaw University, primarily as a way to support his travels abroad, mostly to sunny Italy. He would spend summer months in Tuscany or Umbria camping in a tent, sitting on the main piazza sketching and painting, then moving to another nearby town to experience a new place. His sketches are visual records of towns and cities he visited, and contain memories of people he met, their local traditions, food and wine.

After graduating, Marek moved to Toronto where, after a period of busy work, he returned to drawing and sketching as a way to achieve personal happiness – a near meditative state where a hobby turns into something one feels the need to do every day. He’s a proponent of sketching as a healing activity for mind and body, and uses the drawing creation process to achieve a ‘mindless state of full happiness.’

Marek  is actively involved with his Toronto USk Chapter and with other chapters in North America and Europe. He can often be found on location sketching something old and decrepit, or online on Instagram doing a live broadcast of a Mindless sketch either by himself or with a guest.
