Chicago Sketch Seminar is an annual educational event organized by Urban Sketchers Chicago. USk Chicago is a regional chapter of Urban Sketchers (USk), a nonprofit dedicated to fostering the practice of on-location observational sketching. The Seminar’s goal is to celebrate and practice the art of on-location sketching in our beautiful and artful city – Chicago. We hope to bring a Symposium-like experience to our chapter and our friends from other locations on a much smaller scale. The Seminar offers exciting workshops and opportunities for participants to network and socialize. The Seminar is designed to help absolute beginners and experienced artists alike develop the sketchbook habit, try new things, and practice sketching in public. Workshops will be taught on the sidewalks and in the parks of Chicago, giving ample opportunity for you to practice sketching the motion of this city. We hope you’ll join us!

This is our 7th Seminar. Previous Chicago Sketch Seminars were held in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Seminar ticket

There is only one type of ticket for the Chicago Sketch Seminar 2023. The cost is $125. Thanks to dozens of volunteers and the countless hours they work to organize the event, we can keep our price at this level. The Seminar ticket includes 6 workshops by USk Chicago’s own instructors, and 8 workshops taught by visiting instructors.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds may be requested up to 30 days after purchase or June 1st, whichever is sooner. USk Chicago reserves the right to apply a $10 (USD) cancellation fee for all refunds. No refunds will be offered after June 1st, 2023, due to the need to finalize events, supplies and programming.

Can I buy a ticket for someone else?

Yes, but the information provided at registration must be for the person attending the event. Tickets sold are non-transferable, so please ensure that the information provided is accurate before purchasing.

Is there a minimum age requirement to attend the Seminar?

Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the event, or receive special approval from organizers. Contact UrbanSketchersChicago@gmail.com to discuss options for those younger than 18.
